About Nari Niketan Trust
Nari Niketan Trust, a non profit and non-governmental organization, is duly Registered under the societies of Registration Act XXI of 1860. It is located at Nakodar Road, Jalandhar. The Trust is fully dedicated to the upliftment of the poor, down-trodden and under privileged children. It works for the betterment of neglected sectors of our society. It places orphan, destitute, abandoned and helpless children for adoption both in country & inter country. The trust strives to achieve significant humanitarian results with the funds available.
Nari Niketan Trust(Regd) was established in 1955 by freedom fighter couple Late Sh Avtar Narayan Gujral and his wife Late Smt Pushpa Gujral who migrated to Jalandhar after partition of India in the year 1947, from Jhelam now in west Pakistan. In Jalandhar the couple decided to do selfless service to those who had suffered most in partition. The couple established an institution called Nari Niketan with the motive of providing shelter to destitute women and abandoned and unwanted children. Beside giving shelter, refuge and home to them, the institution provided means for better life through education and vocational training.
In the year 1979 after the death of Shri Avtar Narayan ,Smt Puhspa Gujral added a Model High School which is now known as A.N Gujral Senior Secondary School .In the year 1988 when Smt Pushpa Gujral died her elder son Shri Inder Kumar Gujral took over the management of the Trust and ran it for the betterment of all those for whom it was established.
Today the affairs of the trust are managed and looked after by a team of dedicated trustees comprising of eminent educationist, social activists and selfless workers. The Trust is headed by Sh Naresh Gujral, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) under whose dynamic leadership the Institution is progressing very well.
The Gujral family has created a corpus and interest from this corpus is used for day to day running of the various activities carried out by the Trust. The Trust receives support from many reputed organizations like Pakhar Foundation, Bharti Airtel and other leading citizens of Punjab and Delhi.
The remarks of dignitaries, ministers, film stars, who pay visit to the institution from time to time, bear testimony to the fact that it is doing valuable service to the cause and welfare of the destitute and the neglected.
It has framed its own rules and regulations and its functioning is carried out as per norms laid therein. The annual reports of the institution are made every year.
This institution has been visited by the then President Late Sardar Giani Zail Singh, Prime Minister Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi and also all CMs of Punjab.

All the office will be honorary. There shall be an executive committee consisting of all office bearers and eight other members elected for the purpose in the meeting when office bearers are elected.
